Shown below are several examples of mite cars which were designed specifically for competitive racing.  These racing mites were built in very small numbers and, in some cases, were "one-off". 

McCoy .19-powered Babcock rail mite...This Babcock rail mite was built by John Babcock for Bob Diekmann of Algona, IA to compete in the 1950 Mite Rail Nationals at San Jose, CA.  The car was proxied by Babcock's good friend, Curly Glover, to a 3rd place finish.
McCoy .29-powered Scat Cat...This .29-size Scat Cat was fitted with a custom cast aluminum top by its owner, Bob Diekmann of Algona, IA.
McCoy .19-powered Scat Cat...This as-run Scat Cat is complete and original, including the original design Scat Cat fuel tank.
OK Cub .049-powered Scat-Cat-O-Car....This example of the elusive Scat-Cat-O-Car is complete and appears to have never been run.
Arden .099-powered Holomany special...This one-off car was built by Ernie Holomany, Jr. and his father of Danbury, CT.  The car features a magnesium plate pan, hard-carved wood top, and an Arden .099 engine with a custom rear intake and rotary valve.
McCoy .19-powered EMBO mite...This example of an EMBO mite is one of 4 such cars originally built by Emory ("EM") Schneck and Bob ("BO") Farmer of Detroit, MI.  The cars were entirely custom built with cast aluminum tops and pans.  Schneck and Farmer had two EMBO mites each; one with a McCoy .19 engine and one with a McCoy .29 engine.
Dooling .29-powered Borden mite...This magnesium bodied Borden mite was originally owned by  Joe Shelton.  Shelton campaigned the car successfully for a number of years.
Hornet .199-powered Carlson mite...An early model mite car built by John Carlson which was still equipped with bridle brackets.  The car has an aluminum pan and nose piece and a wood top.
Dooling .29-powered Martin rail mite...This wood topped rail mite was produced by Tony Martin of Chicago.  The design of the magnesium pan was based on a later model Carlson mite tether car pan with the addition of rail guides.  The car was originally owned by Norm Murray of California.
Dooling .29-powered Carlson mite...Designed and built by John Carlson, this later model Carlson mite has a magnesium pan and wood top.
Dooling .29-powered Davis-Carlson mite...One of the highly successful Davis-Carlson mite cars, this car (DC-8) was originally owned by Butch Williams of California.  The car has an aluminum pan and wood top.
McCoy .098-powered Martin rail mite...This example of a Martin Flash is equipped with rail adapters for use on the indoor rail track located in Calumet Park in Chicago.  The composition top is the second-series design of the Martin top.
McCoy .19-powered Martin Flash...This Martin Flash tether car features the first-series design of the composition top found on Martin cars.
McCoy .19-powered Martin Flash...This highly successful Martin Flash was built and raced to numerous national and regional championships by Glenn Kermode of Pontiac, MI.  The top is a custom cast aluminum unit.
Dooling .29-powered Martin mite...This later model  Martin mite car is one of only two that were built by Tony Martin.
Hornet .199-powered 1234 mite...This rare 1234 mite car features a cast aluminum pan and a wood top.
Fox .09-powered Briggs mite...One of the successful mite cars built by H.S. Briggs of Pontiac, MI, this aluminum pan/fiberglass top car features two-piece magnesium wheels and knife-edge tires both front and rear.
Dooling .29-powered Briggs mite...This aluminum pan/wood top Briggs mite was built and raced by H.S. Briggs.
Dooling .29-powered Rebel, Jr....Originally designed by Bill Wunderlich of New Orleans, LA as a low-cost entry-level mite car, the Rebel, Jr. proved to be a successful mite racer.  This car was originally owned by Walt Wilson, Jr. of St. Charles, MO.
Torpedo .29-powered Korn Indianapolis Series .29...Designed and built by Barney Korn, this car is the "little brother" of the famed B.B. Korn Indianapolis and Meteor .60-size race cars.
McCoy .19-powered mite ...This compact racing mite was found in a pile of scrap outside a small manufacturing plant in the Los Angeles area.  The identity of the car's maker is unknown.
Dooling .29-powered mite ...This relatively large and heavy mite car features a cast aluminum top and pan.  The car was originally owned by Homer Adams of Muncie, IN.
McCoy .19-powered Schreiber mite...This magnesium bodied, teardrop-shaped spur-gear drive mite car was produced by "Pop" Schreiber of Kansas City, MO.  Schreiber also produced several versions of the car in cast aluminum.
Dooling .29-powered Law Special...This custom one-off cast aluminum bodied front-wheel drive, spur-gear drive mite car was built by Vincent Law of Kansas City, MO.
McCoy .19-powered mite ...This wood top mite car was raced in the Indiana/Illinois/Michigan area.  The maker of the aluminum pan is unknown.
